The Story behind "Young Queer Voices"
Growing up as a queer male kid in Spain, I had no one to reach out to for LGBTQ+ related guidance. This led me to seek advice elsewhere, in social media, online sources, and overall, undesired spaces. Coming out as gay at such a young age was an even harder process given the lack of information I owned, as I only saw what the media portrayed. It wasn't until my senior year of High School when apart from creating this website I dedicated my time to thinking of ways to help those not only around me but globally. As stated above, we aim to reach schools, offering not only sexual but also emotional support for the students who are part of the LGBTQ community. Each and every one of our presentations (the ones offered to schools) will be published in this section of the website, for public access. Beyond this, we encourage people to share their stories on our platform, educating them in a personal and unique manner. This is very important as in my case I had no one to rely on to learn and open up about my feelings. Therefore, providing a voice for those who want to share their story with the world is something I personally truly value, as you're not only helping yourself but many young kids. "Young Queer Voices" (YQV) also offers direct LGBTQ+ support through multiple of our fellow Queer NGOs across the world, facilitating easier and safer access to any type of guidance. Lastly, at the end of this page, you'll find a section where you can ask any specific questions you'd like to receive advice on. This will come directly from the team of YQV, where we'll reply back to you in a matter of hours, offering the best support we can give you, or simply just responding to your questions.
